CHCI Welcomes Two New Members: Shahab Sagheb and Farrokh Jazizadeh

September 10, 2019

CHCI is proud to announce the arrival of two new members: Shahab Shagheb, Assistant Collegiate Professor of Architecture and Design and Honors College Faculty; and Farrokh Jazizadeh, Assistant Professor of Construction Engineering and Management in the Department of Civil Environmental Engineering.

Shahab Sagheb is an Assistant Collegiate Professor with the Calhoun Discovery Program. The Discovery Program combines a structured disciplinary education with an open-ended, collaborative, and transdisciplinary discovery process. There are nine participating degrees in the Discovery Program spanning engineering, science, business, design, arts, humanities, and policy. Students will collaborate with one another across disciplines, as well as work alongside our faculty, industry, and non-profit partners. Sagheb has also been involved in multiple research projects that focus on bridging digital and physical experiences.

"I am an interactive media artist interested in the role of hybrid digital-physical systems in creating evocative experiences. My work shifts between fine arts and engineering, allowing them to blend together and inform each other. The conceptual framework of my artworks expresses the themes of anonymity, agency, complex systems, playfulness and curiosity. Using custom software, digital fabrication tools and processes, recorded and real-time video I aim to bridge the ever-increasing gap between the intangible digital and tactile physical objects."
